Selling rare birds

When I look at Dutch and Belgian websites, I am surprised what species are offered for sale.
In England, insect and fruit eaters in particular, are not offered for sale often. Because there are no imports, most of these birds are sold or given to people who will try to breed them, and no advertsing is neccessary. Some groups or species - liocichlas, gaailijsters, lijsters - there are organised groups and stud books to try to keep these species in our aviaries.
Is no-one working together to try to save any species in mainland Europe? At the moment, many birds in Europe are selling for crazy prices - prices that would not be paid here in the UK. Are so many people in Europe only interested in money?
